I agree that funding bike trails is a high priority for the future. But unfortunately our politicians have been acting like drunken sailors on shore leave and 'we the people' owe over 17 Trillion dollars. The annual spending exceeds annual tax revenue (aka deficit) by approximately one trillion per year. We only need to look at what is happening to the city of Detroit to see our own future. And many other cities in CA as well.

The value of the dollar keeps falling because of the Federal Reserve pumping the economy to hold it up, and other countries have less faith in the dollar’s value due to the shaky governance and wild spending. The low dollar’s value actually causes gasoline prices to be higher than it should, therefore if politicians keep spending as they have then we are going to need the bike trails because none of us will be able to afford gasoline.

So I would tell your representatives that although we need to reduce spending, please leave the bike trails in the spending package because we will need them when we can no longer afford to buy gasoline.
