New: Vitesse Signal Giveaway's Winner Announced

Need help with repair question
#1
I just got a bike for free from someone but the chainring (?) is bent and needs replaced. I know nothing about bikes or parts so if someone could tell me what parts I need to buy and where to buy them I would appreciate it. All I know is that it is a 21speed all terrain Next women's bike. Thank you.

You need some tools:
- wrench to remove the nut or bolt under the white sticker - usually on lower end bikes, it is a 14mm nut.
- crank puller: http://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-Puller-Square-Cranks/dp/B001VS1M20/
- crankset: this one is good and very inexpensive: http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-M131-Crankset-170mm-48/dp/B003ZMDJW6/

The cables probably need replacing, brake pads, possibly brake levers, possibly brakes...... I did a little work on a NEXT to get it sort of reliable, and spent over $100- on parts (already have the tools, and my own labor) to make it barely reliable. It still should of had the wheel, BB and headset bearing re-done.

Bottom line, unless you are going to get into the bike repair hobby, it is not worth repairing, you can get a brand new one from Wal-mart for less.

In addition to the crankset, the bottom bracket (BB) probably needs at least servicing, if not replacement.
