Can 3M paint protection film be used on a carbon bike?

I'm new to carbon and have just purchased a 2009 Scott CR1 Team. It's been well cared for and still looks great and I want to keep it that way. I've had a lot of chipped paint on bikes I've ridden a lot and was wondering if it would be safe to use 3M paint protection film on this one to try to avoid some of that damage happening to this one. I doubt that I'll ever be able to buy another bike so I want to do all I can to keep it running and looking it's best. Any input would be appreciated.

Why not??? Buy a large piece from a dealer, and then trim what you need for your bike!

Thank you. I've ordered some of the film but I think I'll have someone who has experience with this sort of thing to put it on for me. I'd rather pay someone to do it right than go on the cheap and do a crappy job myself. There's a Calfee Design dealer in Roswell, Ga so I was going to call and ask if they can put if on for me. If not, maybe they can suggest someone who can.
