the bike i have is in my avatar!!!!!
You can check this site out to find out what frame size you should have.
http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer
If you put a longer seatpost on the bicycle, your leg length would be adjusted, but your reach to the handle bar would not change to much. It would probably make your ride uncomfortable. You would need a setpost that is about 4" longer than the one on the bike. Might be hard to find. The longest one I have seen is 400 mm long, (about 15.75 inches). Whatever you do, do not ride the bike unless the seatpost is inserted to the minimun insertion line. Seatpost and or frame damage will result, not to mention the damage to you. Maybe try to sell it on Craigslist and get one that is the correct size for you?
Ride on, keep on riding
Riding on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
Ride on, gonna have myself a good time - AC/DC
And even if the seat post is far enough into the frame; the seat post can still bend and/or the frame be damage due to the moment load.
Sell it, and tally it up to a lesson learned.
