After 20 years the Shimano gear shifts on my 20-yo Concorde 700c hybrid bike don't work properly anymore. They aren't the type I can take apart and repair like shown in the video on this website so I need new gear shifters. I have a 7-speed sprocket with a 3-sprocket chainring. The gear shifters I had were the kind you pressed and they made a click, but there was no visual indicator with a number as to what gear you were in. All they say on them are 'Shimano 7-speed'.
I've done a lot of research but am bewildered by the sheer number and different prices of gear shifters there are. Can anyone give me any advice as to what to get, how much is worth spending, etc? It probably doesn't matter but I ride about 10-20km per day and have outfitted the bike to be a commuter bike with fenders, bike rack, baskets on each side, etc. There are only a few hills here in Toronto that I ride up and down.
