Anyone heard of Frank Shaw?
#1
Hi Guys,

Just picked up this frame, anyone heard of the name? It's Frank Shaw.

It seems pretty nice, super light and came with campy and cinelli components. On the wheel it says "Handbuilt by frank Shaw Camberley" but an internet search throws up absolutely nothing.

Can anyone help?

Chris

I have not heard of that name before. If you don't get a response here, try going to Bike Forums.Net. There is a vintage forum there that may be able to supply your answer.

Frank Shaw used to run a small road bike shop in Mytchett in Surrey in the late seventies and into the eighties. He used to make his own frames and wheels and unbend mine after I had pranged them! One of his frames will likely be Renolds 531. I remember him for his pipe, horn rimmed spectacles and toupé. I think the shop might be a Chinese takeaway now. Shame the picture is gone.

thats one thing about this site - someone will always have the answer. A couple of years ago I had a frame with a strange name on it that very few of us had ever heard of and I couldnt find any info on it but I later found out that the shop owners used to order the frames from the builders and put their own names on them.
