Steerer tube - flared to straight?
#1
Is there any way to adapt a fork with a straight (non-flared) steering tube to a road bike which previously had a flared steering tube?

To answer your question - maybe, it depends......

Sorry for the nebulous question...what I'm trying to do is use a fork with a straight 1 1/8" steering tube on a Trek 5900, which previously had a fork with a 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" taper (1/ 1/4" at the race.) Is there any kind of adapter I can use, or do I need to replace the headset or must I get a fork that's tapered? (see photos- examples only)
