First off have to say this is a great website and forum!
I'm a real novice.
A friend of my son asked me to fix his bike. The rear derailleur was moving into the spokes - he had a bent hanger which i changed.
Now there are problems with the front deraileur and gear changing..
Where do I start with this?
If I replace the cable etc, what position should the chain be in on the chain ring - small, middle or large?
What about on the cassette?
Should the shifter be in 1, 2 or 3?
What about the adjuster on the shifter - in or out????

So many possibles, I can't get a start on it...

Your advice would be appreciated!!
