Mixing Shimano 105 & SRAM Apex
#1
I currently have full 105 components on my road bike with a compact double chain ring. I am interested in getting the new SRAM Apex 11-32 rear cassette.

Can I install the SRAM Apex Cassette and a new rear derailleur (Obviously a longer one to be able to get to the 32 ring) and still use my 105 shifters? Anything else I need to replace?

Has anyone tried this?

nb79, supposing that you are keeping to the same number of speeds (8, 9 or 10) in the rear, the SRAM cassettes work great with Shimano. I understand that Apex is 10 only, though. I may have missed something.
If your RD is a 105 SC with SGS cage, it will easily handle the extra teeth (from 28 to 32?) regardless of what Shimano recommends. They handle triples.
Wheelies don't pop themselves. (from a QBP fortune cookie)

longer chain? and if the teeth on your cs are showing wear, you may need to replace that also!
