Hello All, I joined here back in the Summer, enjoying all the repair tips, very helpful.

I ride road and some light trails, I used to ride a lot of mountain trails, but now more level stuff.

Two older Treks, FX and a DS, looking for an older road bike to restore.

Thanks for having me!

Favorite locations in the Tar Heel: Outer Banks and Chimney Rock! The trail system in Chimney Rock Park is awesome, lol... Cool

G'day @Kadu Flyer , great to have you on here! Yup, I'm into cross-country mountain biking too, though I don't road ride anymore. Had too many close calls!

Enjoy exploring this forum. Some exceptional advice and information on here. Smile

I ride in a county park, part paved, part gravel, it's relatively flat, I also ride on some suburban roads to run errands, but have to be extra careful.

We are in the process of moving to NJ, near the beach, there are several very large state and county parks in the Pine Barrens. We will also be able to ride on the board walk during certain hours which my wife and I are looking forward to.

Curious question. Are you allowed to ride on footpaths where you live? In some areas where I live, you can get a fine for riding on paths for walkers

There are specific trails for bikes, but hikers can also use them, fortunately most hikers keep off them.

Another park limits cyclists to certain hours in certain areas that can vary different times of the year (very confusing).
Seaside boardwalks allow cycling before 10AM in the summer, and all day off season Smile

I like riding under power lines or on buried gas pipelines, no restrictions there.

@Flowrider, in the Boston area, riding on footpaths was frowned upon and even inconsiderate. Then again, riding on them must have been like a mini mountain biking session—lots of ups and downs, due to very, very uneven surfaces. In fact, even running on those paths could cause folks to trip and fall.

Some riders used to take the footpaths during morning or evening rush hours to avoid traffic, but genuinely unsafe for families and kids.

Not sure where @Kadu Flyer lives or rides, though!

@Kadu Flyer, sorry for the unsolicited pitch, but please try a fat bike when you move to the Pine Barrens—you'll love a whole new way to ride the beaches! ..

My thoughts about riding on footpaths should be allowed anywhere, anytime. Riding on the road is way too dangerous. Bikes are like magnets to cars: drivers look for them to avoid them, which unfortunately draws them closer. Getting hit by a car is a lot worse than someone being it by a bike

Cyclists should also watch for walkers and give ample warning when they're about to cycle past.

Be kind and courteous doesn't take any effort
