Tour de Scottsdale
#1
Hello.
I scrolled through the events section and noticed one road cycling event near me, Tour de Scottsdale. Recently I got back into daily (bike) commuting and my form is certainly not bad. Nevertheless, I'm not sure about my abilities to enjoy a more serious cycling event. It has been a while since the last 20+ mile road ride.

How difficult might be the 30-mile race at Scottsdale? It would be great if 1) someone who knows the route or 2) has participated before, or is 3) familiar with the roads ... could share useful info and encourage such "classic dad" like me to participate Smile

Just go for it, man!
Have you done climbing recently? I mean it does not have to be much, but at least some 100-300 feet per ride.

I checked out Strava and found for instance the 30mile route from 2015: https://www.strava.com/routes/3431342
You can see that there is around 1'200 feet of incline over the route.
Certainly nothing crazy, just a steady chill climb with 1% average.

Thanks for the encouragement and the strava route Wink It does not look that heavy; more uphill climbs have been conquered back in the days.

Need a buddy for the ride I think so. It's not all that much fun biking alone; or can you make friends during the ride?

Or on Tour de Scottsdale page, or just don't be shy and make new friend on the start line Big Grin

Neih, no Strava. I'm not that fancy yet and can't compete with others there. Result comparisons would make me feel embarrassed Big Grin Registration for 30 mile ride is done, chack. Lets see if I can make friends on the spot. Not planning to do any mingling leading up to the event.
