Hedseat - Headtube 44mm help...
#1
Ive run into a problem and would like some assistance from others who may know, before I buy parts.

I have a Walmart 29" GX7 beach cruiser chrome, 7 speed. Someone replaced the forks and the headset, but not correctly. I need to fix this, but im unsure of what to buy.

you can see in the pictures, the bicycles headtube is flared on top and also on the bottom. the inside diameter of the flared space of the headtube is 1 3/4 inch (44mm) and the forks are 1 1/8 SR suntour LO 29"

BTW... Taking it to a shop would be to costly for me.

Something about the headtube looks like it has been cracked and repaired. Could be just the pics.

It does look that way, and its a possibility. Interesting what the naked eye cannot pick up so easily, and I have 20/20. This was taken with a 16MP camera, lol.

Im still stumped regarding the type of headset I need to buy though... Anyone out there who can help??

I would be very grateful :-)

Thanks! I appreciate your help. Ive been reading site after site to learn the terminology of headsets, thinking this will help me understand what I need to buy, but haven't been able to find a few things. maybe you can help.

on the Headset pictured below, the left side arrow points to one outer portion and the right arrow to another. What is the term for each?

my inner diameter is 44mm, so, im assuming the arrow on the right is the portion that would be 44mm in size, is that correct?

thanks

Your left and right arrow's are pointing at one piece not two. the left is just a flange, the right is the outside dia. of the 44mm as you thought. it should fit snug into your frame. I call them cups, upper and lower.

I should have said two spots on one piece. Thanks, that's what I needed to know.

Thanks again, Ami.
