Below 32tooth 2nd chainring?
#1
Is there a crankset out there that will allow a less than 32 tooth 2nd chainring to be fitted. Any ideas? Thanks. Giant Yukon FX. Has a SR Suntour XCT V2 on it now.

lots of MTB crank sets: http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Dyna-Sys-FC-M785-Double-Crankset/dp/B00629NWFS/ for example.

That won't work, I need one with a under 104mm bolt circle diameter on the second ring. Allowing a under 32 tooth second ring.

It comes with a 26 or 28 2nd ring.....

I got a 3x8, 22,32,40something up front, 11 to 32 in back. 40 something was removed and replaced with a race face bash guard prior to me owning this bike. Cant see using the 40 tooth around here. But would be nice to move the 32 over and put a 26-28 in the middle. Ending up with 22,26-28,32 chain rings. Sorry for the confusing way I explained my sitch.

The smallest 104mm BCD ring I could find is 30T by Race Face - and it is pricey.

You should consider switching to 9 speed, with a Sunrace 11-36 cassette, and leaving your crankset as is. New shifter and RD required, but you would end up with the same ratio spacing as you have now, with an additional lower gear.

Ok, thanks. Will consider. Recommend a rear derailer? Thanks for spoon feeding the newb.

Not cheap, but goes down to a 24 on the inner ring.

Thanks nfmisso.
Thanks Dave. Ouch, pricey is right. But it does meet my needs.
