New: Take Part in the October Giveaway to Win the Qiolor TIGER Retro Electric Bike

2010 Kona Caldera
#1
Bought this bike in Dec 2009. It may not be the fastest bike on XC trails but put it on single tracks and it all comes alive. The RockShox Tora solo air fork is excellent at this price point and this bike just love to play rough. Great value compared to other brands of similar spec.

Pros: Excellent handling and bomber tough frame. Climbs well and decent with poise.

Cons: This year's Deore shifters aren't as smooth as older models. After 9 months of riding, headset and BB are about give up.

Setup: Stock except - SLX shifters, Ergon GP1 Grips, Fizik Gobi Saddle, Maxxis Crossmark Tyres.

Kona is an awesome brand, I really like them. How are you liking the ergon grips? I have a set that hasn't made it on to my new bike yet.

The Ergon grip is great - very comfortable and excellent for riding long hours. So good, I bought another pair for my new bike. However, it's only suitable for XC type rides - not recommended for All Mountain or DH.

Yeah, I agree. When I've tried to use them for more technical rides, they feel a little bit too big.

The ergon grips are really awesome, I have them on two of my bikes one the my mtb and the other the work bike (one I fixed up really cheap). They take a load of stress off of my wrist and palms when riding as said above long rides.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!
