Oh, I'm getting along alright, no hurry now that I'm on Social Insecurity... I just posted more pics of the ongoing home rehab campaign at
http://frugalvillage.com, just look for my "Silver City Home Rehab Thread" in the 'New Posts' column, lol. I'm currently building some elevated walkways and aerial bridges for my cats, I'm "closing the loop" in the living room so the cats can go all the way around the room, using the elevated walkways and two aerial bridges. Once I'm done painting everything this fall, it's gonna look heller cool, lol.
I'm hoping the thumb loosens up a bit more as I paint the interior & exterior of my home... wrapping the thumb around the extension handle for the paint roller may help, we'll see when I get around to it. Too darned hot right now, and the monsoon humidity isn't good for curing paint anyway, so no worries. I have a "master plan!" Lol. For those who don't recall my lonnnnng search for a home in this crazy real estate market, I wound up paying $67K for this place, and I've sunk an additional $10-12K into it, including new appliances.
It's not a bad home, just needs work... it's already comfortable, and that's the most important characteristic a home should have, aye? My cats love it, and they love the yard too, with the trees offering shade, exercise, etc. Some of the branches ascend at angles, you understand, so the cats can run right up the branches, lol. The stone wall is very well-made, I've never seen one better! And I've known some good masons in my time, but whoever built this wall did a great job! No cracks whatsoever in the masonry!
I expect to finish most of the rehab work this fall, once the temps cool down and the humidity goes away... the heat has been oppressive out West, I'll be glad when the "heat dome" breaks down and moves east, and good riddance! Next summer, I'll have A/C units installed, I'll put window units directly into the walls, yeah? Easy enough to do, no ghetto look, and no blockage of natural light through the windows, lol. Just didn't get around to it before this summer, with the broken thumb and all! Meh, better late than never, lol. CHEERS!!!
P.S. I do have several fans to get through this summer heat, including a nice ceiling fan in the TV Room that works beautifully... so the cats & I are surviving the heatwave, and the ice-cold alcoholic beverages don't suck either, lol. When I finish running errands today, I'll make a tall cold drink at the house! Whatever it takes to get through this oppressive heatwave! At least it cools down at night, here above 6000' elevation... the heat has broken records in many parts of New Mexico, but nights are relatively cool here in Silver City! Makes sleeping a bit easier!
