Carbon wheels
#1
Hi, I have a very good deal on shimano WH-7850 C50 -TL... and I dont know tubular and carbon wheels, I have fulcrum R1.. I'm not a racer, I do 4-5 ''cyclos'' by summer.. and I ride alone or with my friends (10 Guys) but I like the performance... I can have those wheelset with vittoria open corsa tubular for 615$.. 500 miles like new...

2 things, is it just for race, can I use that for everyday training, is it pretty good wheels for climbing and why I hesitate too, the famous tubular.. I think is easier to put a new tube if I make a flat than put a new tubular tire on the road, after I don't know how to install a tubular tire, with glue. So I guess I need to see my LBS to do that until I can do that by myself.

thanks for you advice..

Hm. When you get a flat on a carbon wheel, you can actually damage it. Braking performance in wet conditions is also... well... abysmal. I'd use this type of wheel for racing only...

Still, if you like the technology, look of the wheels etc. and have the money to spend: why not? Go ahead.

Actually, changing a tubular on the road is much faster than replacing a clincher. You just have to be careful when cornering since the glue will not be quite strong enough. Gluing tubulars is actually not that difficult, it is quite messy the first times, though. It helps if you get somebody to show you before doing it on your own.
