brakes [Solved]
#1
Fairly dumb question, what are the early signs that disc brakes are wearing out? Are there any obvious visual cues? I don't want to wait until it's metal on metal..

what brake pads do you have?

i check the brake pad thickness when I feel that the braking power is significantly decreasing & they should not go below a specific number. for some brands it's 3.0mm but I know that Shimano pads can be worn even under 1.0mm.

have you recently felt changes in braking power?

I only notice some brake fade when I've had a long descent - thanks for the advice - looks like I shouldn't let the pads and backing plate get less than 3mm. Thanks again!
