Hello All,

My name is Alvin Sims, 45 years old, former professional basketball player of 11 years. I retired in 2011 and started looking into new avenues to stay in shape & have fun. I started riding a mountain bike, then switched up to cycling in order to ride more distance. It was just for exercise at first but my interest is at the point where I want to be competitive. I want to ride in my first event soon. I’m very excited about riding. I would ride everyday for hours if possible. I’m definitely looking forward to the warmer weather here in Iowa.

Hi Alvin,
welcome to Bikeride! Happy to have you here. It is great that you have found a new passion/drive of a different kind (yet at the same time similar w/ activity & fun), after the end of your long sports career. Feel free to share your bike with us!

Do you have your eyes on any specific bike event already?

The Horsey Hundred that was scheduled for May. Also thinking about Rag Brai. Do you know of any events for a beginner?

Oh wow, I was born in 97. Great year! What were some of the other guys back then? I've been a supporter of Nuggets since Melo joined and I was old enough to understand what's up Big Grin

Times are confusing right now. I'm definitely sad about NBA season being postponed; was excited and looking forward to PO. But it's best to stop it of course. How does this pandemic affect your biking habits?
