Replacement Forks

Can anyone help me figure out what kind of front fork I need to replace a bent one? My bike is a GMC Denali Women's Road Bike (20"/50cm Frame) with a GMC Series 7000 steel.

I hit a car and now the front fork is bent. The bike shop couldn't fix it or find a replacement part.

We really need to know more information:
* what diameter headset?
* threaded or threadless?

Are you sure that the frame is not damaged?

Somewhere in there, I believe that he replaced the fork with one of these:

To be sure, you need to remove and measure your current fork. In addition to threaded or threadless, 1" or 1 1/8"; you need to know the length of the tube, and if threaded, the length of the threading.

OK I have some measurements, but they do not make much sense.

52-57 millimeter break reach
7 inch steer tube
22.2 stem diameter
700c something.

7" is approximately 178mm

I would get this one:

It is actually a better fork than was originally on your bike.

it may need to be shortened, or you can just add some spacers if required:

You will also need to transfer the crown race from your old fork to the new fork.

I would also strongly recommend that you replace your brakes, at least the front brake if you are on a tight budget. Tektro R539 brakes will provide much better stopping performance than your current brakes.

I'm having the same problem! Hit a pole avoiding a car, so my front fork is bent. Mine is GMC Denali 700c 20" Men's Road Bike, Medium (WALMART has 19" now: http://www.walmart.com/ip/GMC-Denali-700c-20-Men-s-Road-Bike-Medium/16203487.)

I'm wondering if it'll be the same spec if I were to replace with the ones nfmisso suggested?

Maybe; remove your current fork from the bike, and measure from the crown race to the end of the steerer tube. This is the steer tube length. Also measure from the crown race to the start of the threads. One the Sunlite this is 80mm (200-120). As long as the crown race to start of threads is less than or equal to your current fork, AND the steer tube length is greater than or equal to your current fork, AND we are talking about a 1" threaded fork - you're in business.
