Bar end shifters
#1
I have acquired an early 80's Fuji Royale. Bike is in great shape but to big for me. My thought is to switch the bar end shifters to one of my other bikes. My question is, is there any advantage to that type of shifters? I have never ridden a bike with them.

Not really we use that kind of shifters on touring bicycles. But I did not like them at all so I took them off and put on down tube shifters on.If you do want to change them out get back to me and I can tell you how to take them off its not hard at all.But you have to watch out for a few things.
My dad always told me a Sledge a matic can fix any thing.

The idea is that you don't have to remove your hand completely from the bar in order to shift. I like them, but they do sometimes create problems with hitting your knees, especially when out of the saddle.

It's usually no problem to put them on another bike as long as the gearing is compatible if they're indexed. Sometimes there is an issue if the bars are different diameters, but that's fairly rare.
