Hi Everyone,I have a question about bike fitting. I won a Trek 7000 that has 17.5 / 44.5 stamp on the seat tube which I know is the frame size in inches and cm. I'm 5'10" with 33 in / 82cm inseam, the charts say I need a bigger bike based on inseam but they seem to be based on bikes with a straight cross bar where as my bikes slopes down at an angle. I do have my seat and handle bar stems adjusted to their maximum height to fit my body but I feel comfortable riding, do I need a bigger bike?
With a sloping top tube it is more the reach (saddle to bars) that matters.
The seat hight is adjusted to suit the inseam.
If the bike is comfortable then no worries.
Ride hard or ride home alone!
Ye I thought it would be small. However some people like small bikes. I have seen riders with about a foot of seat stem showing while they looked like a grasshopper. I go the other way and like big bikes to stretch out on.
I got my neighbors bike and he is taller than me yet his bike was set up very tight. I moved the seat back and raised the bars. Now it fits me good.
Never Give Up!!!
I rode bikes all the thru my mid-teens but consider myself a novice, back then any old bike would suffice. As I rode the trek 7000 I kept making adjustments, raised the seat till for proper extension, then the handlebars had to come up but even at max I'm still a little far forward.I'm looking at a 4300 & 4500 trek with a bigger frame, though I'm not considering hard trail riding I might want to wander off the beaten path now and then.
