Hello. I just purchased a used Schwinn 700c Women's Pathway Bike and was told the front wheel is slightly bent. I went to a bike shop that might fix the rim and do a once over all fix-up on the bike (just what is necessary fixing/cleaning up). I was told that the wheel cannot be fix, needs to be replaced. I am not looking to invest too much into a used bike that may be on the lower end of the Schwinn lines, but it seems as though I'll need to replace the front wheel. I have not been able to find an exact match of this Schwinn Pathway wheel, where might I be able to find this wheel?
Thank you for your time.
Location: Pike county Missouri
I have gotten used rims over the years from a small local shop. Call around and ask some shops if they sell used rims and get on that way.
Hi FredS here, as I can not get my old sign-on to work and have not had any luck at getting the password reset; I have started over with this sign-on.
You want a wheel not just the rim, relaceing gets more expensive than the wheel. Did you ask them at the shop if they had wheels? Since they are servicing the bike, should be about $50 for a basic wheel.
Google, amazon.
Never Give Up!!!
Some shops even have a pile of used wheels lying around - I got a (non-matching) set from a LBS and another front wheel for a differnt bike from another. I paid... dunno... I think about 10 € for a front wheel, maybe 15€ for the rear. They usually need to be trued and tensioned, but the basic truing costs a tenner at my LBS.
Craigslist. Ebay. Amazon. $50 & under, 700C, 32 or 36 spoke.
